The suggester writes: Awesome Animated Avatar Tut by =xXAli-StarXx is just what the title says - Awesome! It's a fabulously simple step by step set of instructions on how to create an animated cloud avatar in Photoshop and Image Ready. The artist uses clear language with visuals to help artists make the best of the tools in these programs for future projects. Thank you for sharing!

Warning MASSIVE File!!!

Click download :D You know you want to!

A few people have been asking how I make my avatars, so I decided to dedicate the weekend to making a little tutorial.. Which kind of turned into a massive tutorial!!

If you decide to post the icon on deviantart feel free to leave me a comment with a link to it attached. I'd loved to see what you made :la:

If you use this tutorial please provide a link back, so others can find the tutorial

:bulletpurple: Q & A Time :bulletpurple:

:bulletpink: When I click optimised, the background turns white instead of clear: Where you selected the file size - at the very begining- you should have the option to make the background transparent. If that doesn't work, drag the layer named background (it should be a completely white square) to the trash can down the bottom of the layer pallet, and hopefully that should make the background transparent.
:bulletpink: To fade your name in and out: Just click on the layer you want to fade in and out and change the oppacity (which is a little bar at the top of the layers panel), change it to about 75% then make another slide, change it to 50%, then make another slide change it to 25% then make another slide and change it to 0%. Then do the reverse if you'd like to fade it back in again.
:bulletpink: For photoshop CS3 and CS4 users: If anyone is using CS3/CS4 there is no more Imageready. Instead you have to go to Window --> Animation. Then at the animation bar go to bottom right and click on 3 squares to get the same look as in imageready (Thanks to ~BlazingsNL for the tip for CS3 and CS4 users.)
:bulletpink: In CS3 when I move one thing every slide changes: I don't have CS3, but my brother told me to get around this problem, he flattened the whole pixel image into one layer, and then created a new layer for each slide.
:bulletpink: I've successfully made an avatar, but it only moves up and down once: In CS3, theres a little drop down menu below the slides which allows you to chose whether you'd like it to repeat forever or just once. (Thankyou to ~Vega-Three for this tip for CS3 users:hug:)
:bulletpink: In CS4 there is no save optimised as Instead you go file --> save for web and devices and select save as a gif. It should be animated.
