Awesome Animated Avatar Tut by xXAli-StarXx Awesome Animated Avatar Tut by xXAli-StarXx

:faint: :woohoo: AHHHHHHH A DD!! :woohoo: :faint:
 Thanks ^FantasyStock, =mushir =ScENeYmE for suggesting and `znow-white for featuring!!

Excuse me while I got die of happiness!!!!

Warning MASSIVE File!!!

Click download :D You know you want to!

A few people have been asking how I make my avatars, so I decided to dedicate the weekend to making a little tutorial.. Which kind of turned into a massive tutorial!!

If you decide to post the icon on deviantart feel free to leave me a comment with a link to it attached. I'd loved to see what you made :la:

If you use this tutorial please provide a link back, so others can find the tutorial

:bulletpurple: Q & A Time :bulletpurple:

:bulletpink: When I click optimised, the background turns white instead of clear: Where you selected the file size - at the very begining- you should have the option to make the background transparent. If that doesn't work, drag the layer named background (it should be a completely white square) to the trash can down the bottom of the layer pallet, and hopefully that should make the background transparent.
:bulletpink: To fade your name in and out: Just click on the layer you want to fade in and out and change the oppacity (which is a little bar at the top of the layers panel), change it to about 75% then make another slide, change it to 50%, then make another slide change it to 25% then make another slide and change it to 0%. Then do the reverse if you'd like to fade it back in again.
:bulletpink: For photoshop CS3 and CS4 users: If anyone is using CS3/CS4 there is no more Imageready. Instead you have to go to Window --> Animation. Then at the animation bar go to bottom right and click on 3 squares to get the same look as in imageready (Thanks to ~BlazingsNL for the tip for CS3 and CS4 users.)
:bulletpink: In CS3 when I move one thing every slide changes: I don't have CS3, but my brother told me to get around this problem, he flattened the whole pixel image into one layer, and then created a new layer for each slide.
:bulletpink: I've successfully made an avatar, but it only moves up and down once: In CS3, theres a little drop down menu below the slides which allows you to chose whether you'd like it to repeat forever or just once. (Thankyou to ~Vega-Three for this tip for CS3 users:hug:)
:bulletpink: In CS4 there is no save optimised as Instead you go file --> save for web and devices and select save as a gif. It should be animated.

I'm so glad that so many people have been making their own cloud avatars, but remember guys if you're using the tutorial 'd appreciate if you wouldn't claim it as your own idea

The suggester writes: Awesome Animated Avatar Tut by =xXAli-StarXx is just what the title says - Awesome! It's a fabulously simple step by step set of instructions on how to create an animated cloud avatar in Photoshop and Image Ready. The artist uses clear language with visuals to help artists make the best of the tools in these programs for future projects. Thank you for sharing! I set the canvas/image to 50x50,
Then I drew a line and it was blurry on the edges (there was almost 2 lines not one clear on) The brush was on size 1
Is this normal or not??
Thankies!! :D

To clarify, use the 'pencil' tool in the program.  Right now it's probably set to paintbrush, the default tool.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, theres a toolbox in photoshop and most art programs; you can see all the tools you can use and select which one you want from there.  In my version [of photoshop] if you cant see the pencil icon, right click on the brush icon and you should see it.

Hello xXAli-StarXx. I have a question? I am so embarrassed...but I was able to follow your tutorial up to the point when the cutie cloud had the purple rectangle around it during the animating half. I couldn't figure out what to click on to get it to move up a few pixels, down a few pixels...and so on.
Another question too, how did you make all the different faces on your cutie cloud in the tutorial? Are they seperate layers added in Photoshop, or changed during each animation sequence in ImageReady?
Don't worry dear it isn't your tutorial. As a matter a fact, yours has been the most helpful I've read so far. I'm just stupid. :ashamed:
You know I need Awesome Animated Avatar Tutotials: For Dummies.
P.S. I have Photoshop 7.

You can also do the whole process in Gimp, which is free, and fairly similar in layout to PS! I've made a tutorial on how to do that here: [link] There's also a link on the deviation to download Gimp. :)

Try MS Paint.
BUT, you have to go to Pixlr to take away the background.
Just unlock the first layer(click the lock twice), then add another layer. Drag the first layer on top. Find the wand tool, use it to click the area you don't want, go to edit, then cut.
Go to Iaza to animate frame by frame. Click "Frame animation" to upload each frame you drew.
