If you decide to post the icon on deviantart feel free to leave me a comment with a link to it attached. I'd loved to see what you made
If you use this tutorial please provide a link back, so others can find the tutorial
Q & A Time
When I click optimised, the background turns white instead of clear: Where you selected the file size - at the very begining- you should have the option to make the background transparent. If that doesn't work, drag the layer named background (it should be a completely white square) to the trash can down the bottom of the layer pallet, and hopefully that should make the background transparent.
To fade your name in and out: Just click on the layer you want to fade in and out and change the oppacity (which is a little bar at the top of the layers panel), change it to about 75% then make another slide, change it to 50%, then make another slide change it to 25% then make another slide and change it to 0%. Then do the reverse if you'd like to fade it back in again.
For photoshop CS3 and CS4 users: If anyone is using CS3/CS4 there is no more Imageready. Instead you have to go to Window --> Animation. Then at the animation bar go to bottom right and click on 3 squares to get the same look as in imageready (Thanks to ~BlazingsNL for the tip for CS3 and CS4 users. )
In CS3 when I move one thing every slide changes: I don't have CS3, but my brother told me to get around this problem, he flattened the whole pixel image into one layer, and then created a new layer for each slide.
I've successfully made an avatar, but it only moves up and down once: In CS3, theres a little drop down menu below the slides which allows you to chose whether you'd like it to repeat forever or just once. (Thankyou to ~Vega-Three for this tip for CS3 users)
In CS4 there is no save optimised as Instead you go file --> save for web and devices and select save as a gif. It should be animated.

Avatar Tutorials How to make avatars
I'm so glad that so many people have been making their own cloud avatars, but remember guys if you're using the tutorial 'd appreciate if you wouldn't claim it as your own idea
Daily DeviationGiven 2010-03-18
Then I drew a line and it was blurry on the edges (there was almost 2 lines not one clear on) The brush was on size 1
Is this normal or not??
I'm glad it helped^^ Good luck on your animated Avi^^
(I feel sry for you... you had to wait half a year in order to make this)
(I use Photoshop CS30
Another question too, how did you make all the different faces on your cutie cloud in the tutorial? Are they seperate layers added in Photoshop, or changed during each animation sequence in ImageReady?
Don't worry dear it isn't your tutorial. As a matter a fact, yours has been the most helpful I've read so far. I'm just stupid.
You know I need Awesome Animated Avatar Tutotials: For Dummies.
P.S. I have Photoshop 7.
BUT, you have to go to Pixlr to take away the background.
Just unlock the first layer(click the lock twice), then add another layer. Drag the first layer on top. Find the wand tool, use it to click the area you don't want, go to edit, then cut.
Go to Iaza to animate frame by frame. Click "Frame animation" to upload each frame you drew.
